One of the parameters set by the client for this house was that no roofing was to be visible from the interior of the house at any location. This was resolved by making the upper floor perimeter larger than the main floor below.
The wife's interest in music (she is a recording artist and was recording an album at the time of design) rekindled
an earlier interest of mine where I explored the relationship between musical form (harmony) and spatial form (architecture). Many of my university projects (both in Manitoba and Vienna) were driven by this (university work not included here on my website... but available to view if desired).
