The original house was built in the 1940's in a neighbourhood that boasts small get-aways for Frank Sinatra and other entertainers wishing to escape Los Angeles on the weekend.
The seventy years in the hot desert sun had taken its toll on the adobe style stucco exterior wall assembly. This was replaced with wood siding and white, thin, stacked concrete block cladding.
The rear portion of the main roof was raised to provide a 12' clear living room ceiling height that extends out onto a re-worked patio surrounding an upgraded swimming pool.
Clean, polished materials were chosen for the floors and walls of the interior spaces and the Master Bedroom was placed around a small interior courtyard with a colorful cactus garden.
The white stacked brick used at the entry carries into the main entry foyer where frameless glass side lites frame the entry door.
To achieve a polished concrete look along the exterior curb walls along the property line, a grey acrylic finish was applied to a stucco finish with good results. We are now applying this wall finish to our Cambie project (the Monarch) currently being built.
